Learn more about the rich history and vibrant community of Ipil
Ipil is the capital and most populous municipality of the province of Zamboanga Sibugay in the Philippines. Known as the "Heart of Sibugay" and "Crossroads of Region IX," our municipality serves as a major commercial and economic center in the region.
Originally known as Sanito, Ipil was established as a municipality on July 26, 1949. The name "Ipil" was derived from the abundance of Ipil trees found in the area. Today, we are home to a vibrant community of over 96,000 people, united in our pursuit of progress and prosperity.
Our town hosts the only airport in the province — Ipil Airport — and is strategically located three hours from key cities like Zamboanga City, Pagadian, and Dipolog.
